Jadore Design Trends for 2022

More and more research shows that there is a direct correlation between our homes and the environment we live in and that it affects not only our moods but also our overall health and well-being.

With the onset of our third consecutive year in a global pandemic, it is no wonder the top interior design trends are focused on making us feel emotionally at ease.

Spending more time indoors, clients are all requesting warm cosy spaces that create a calm feeling throughout.

Let us have a look at the elements that we will see featuring as top contenders through 2022:

Textures

With more and more time we spend indoors, all looking for a bit of nature. Natural surfaces will be seen everywhere, think stoneware, terracotta, marble, and travertine being used across the board from backsplashes to bathtubs, furniture, and decorative objects. The raw, porous, imperfect nature of these organic materials adds depth, soul, and visual intrigue while also mimicking the calming rejuvenating ambience of the outdoors.

We will see more plants and natural elements like rocks and wood introduced into rooms and even life-size trees placed in homes to soften the mood.

Shapes

We will see more gracious and sensual shapes and curved edges with a feel of sculpture in furniture and structures. Curved shapes create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere within areas.

There seems to be a longing for comfort and function rather than to achieve an ultra-modern space.

Colours

Neutrals are taking a bit of a back foot with people starting to be more adventurous in their search for change. Bold colours and patterns reminiscent of the '60s and '70s can be seen with green in all shades as we continue to bring the outdoors in. Colours inspired by nature will enter the design world in more muted shades.

Greys have oversaturated the market the last two years and can be seen in every development or new build, using tones of browns gives a feel of uniqueness in our homes.

Styles

In 2022, we are seeing traditional details making a big comeback. So much has changed around the world over the past few years. It is no surprise that more and more people are craving a sense of comfort and timelessness or even a bit of nostalgia in their homes. Items that remind us of times when everything was normal will make their way back into our homes. Bring back grandmothers comfort blanket and candles, even in modern spaces.

Spaces

People are starting to understand that they can live with less, especially after the past few years, as spaces had to take the form of multiple rooms in one. People become creative with how their spaces can be multifunctional and turn to professionals for space planning more and more.

For example:

  • using your living room also as an office,
  • kitchens turned into boardrooms
  • and small classrooms can be seen throughout.

Rooms identity of being used for a specific purpose has completely fallen away.

2022 will be a playful year, a year where people rebuild, rediscover and start living again. People want to have more fun at home, and they are willing to use bolder combinations of colours, patterns, and decorative elements than we have seen in years. Watch out for interiors; that is exuberant yet more sophisticated, where even small details like cabinet hardware and decorative trims will add some WOW factor to a room.

We are looking forward to the positive changes that will be see-through spaces and peoples longing to live again throughout the interior world.
